Conor Benn brushes off Martin Brundle’s major blunder in awkward exchange at Miami Grand Prix

It may have been one of the greatest British boxing fights of all time, but enough for the loser to be congratulated?
Well that was the case for Conor Benn, who got some rather awkward plaudits over his defeat to Chris Eubank Jr.
Benn lost to Eubank in a slugfest for the ages at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium via a unanimous decision last week.
Yet that fact seemed to escape Formula 1 legend Martin Brundle at the Miami Grand Prix.
The pundit was staging one of his iconic grid walks in Florida.
And despite it being one of the most star-studded events of the season, there was only one person he was looking for.
So titanic was Benn’s defeat that Brundle was looking for him from the off, only to make a big error upon finding him.
“What a boxing match that was, what a result, congratulations,” Brundle said.
Benn did well not react to the mistake, simply replying: “Thank you, I appreciate that."
He then added: “Although it was a great fight I didn’t get the W [win] which I came for so hopefully we can run it back in September and I can make amends.”
Brundle then asked if there will be a rematch and Benn replied: "Oh most definitely."
If that wasn't awkward enough, Brundle then made a risky joke about Benn's size, which luckily went down well.
"I somehow expected you to be bigger, taller, with the punch that you pack," he said.
Benn replied: "I pack a heavy punch but I'm light though!"
Brundle then finished with aplomb, saying: "I'll take your word for that to be honest!"
Benn was looking in decent condition after he and Eubank were left completely battered in 12 rounds of hell in north London.
There was plenty of history between the pair with their fathers staging a rivalry in the 1990s.
Benn then failed a drugs test ahead of their initial fight, and there was constant debate over whether it should have taken place at all given the weight discrepancy between the pair.
Yet on the night they staged a gladiatorial fight which sent Eubank to hospital in an ambulance shortly after his victory.
