The road to a world title is a long one, hence why no boxer ever wants to lose or give up their belt.

The reasons for such situations can vary. Last year we saw the likes of James DeGale forfeit their titles in the ring, while Gervonta Davis discarded his by coming in overweight. Others may have just vacated titles and opted to move up in weight.

Regardless of past occurrences, the motive for all non-retired former titlists remains the same: To become world champion again.
