Lennox Lewis refuses to back against Tyson Fury ahead of Deontay Wilder fight
The former undisputed heavyweight champion has had his say up the upcoming WBC title bout
Lennox Lewis does not want to pick against Tyson Fury for a second time.
The former undisputed heavyweight champion spoke to talkSPORT about Fury’s upcoming fight with Deontay Wilder on Tuesday, and referred back to the Gypsy King’s win over Wladimir Klitschko.
“Tyson Fury’s surprised me in the past,” Lewis told Hawksbee and Jacobs when asked about Fury v Wilder.
“I didn’t think he was going to do that well against Wladimir and he did better than expected.
“Certain fighters, they rise to the occasion and he seems like one of those fighters to rise to the occasion.
“He may have a couple of fights to kind of warm him up to the aspect of jumping in the ring to a big fight, but he always shows up for the big fights.”
Tyson Fury will challenge Deontay Wilder for the WBC heavyweight title in November/December of this year.
If he wins, the 30-year-old will become a two-time champion, while Lennox Lewis was a three-time ruler.
