Josh Warrington vs Carl Frampton: Prince Naseem Hamed declares he would beat both featherweights on the same night

The British boxing legend has assessed the current crop in his old division

Former featherweight world champion Prince Naseem Hamed believes he would have beaten both of Britain’s current top two on the same night.

Josh Warrington is set to defend his IBF title against Carl Frampton on December 22 in Manchester, however Naz doesn’t think either of the men fighting for his old belt would have been able to challenge him in his heyday.

“I found boxing so, so easy with incredible power, speed and accuracy,” the 44-year-old began when asked by about how he’d fare against the pair.

“For me personally? Probably both of them on the same night.

“That’s not disrespecting them, I love them, they’re nice kids.

“I’m just saying the way I am. Everybody knows – I’m not just blowing my own trumpet – I’m a one-off.”

Prince Naseem held the WBO, IBF and WBC featherweight titles during his 37-fight career – in which he won 36 times and lost just once.

The ultra-charismatic Sheffield man is widely considered to be British boxing royalty, due to his reign as a star in the late 1990s.

“I keep hearing about ‘levels’ and there really is,” Naz continued, "I set the bar too high, up to a point that you probably can’t even see it.

“But listen, this is their day, that was my day. That day is gone.”
