Deontay Wilder: Incensed American champion rips into reporter over racism comment ahead of Tyson Fury fight
The WBC king lost his cool during a media scrum after it all kicked off between him and his opponent
Deontay Wilder furiously ranted at an American reporter when asked about his racism comments at the final press conference before his fight with Tyson Fury.
The WBC champion had just climbed down off the stage after his event with the Brit descended into chaos, and then flew into a rage at SecondsOut video journalist Radio Rahim.
In recent times, Wilder has spoke of racial injustice in America on multiple occasions and appeared to hint at it earlier in the media huddle by suggesting that Fury may get preferential treatment from US media for his stories of overcoming drink and drug issues.
The American believes if he was in that position, then he would be branded a “drug addict” and a “terrorist,” and was then asked more about his convictions by the reporter, who is himself a black American.
“You said that your people have been fighting for 400 years,” Rahim began, “I just wanted you to explain what you mean by that?”
Immediately incensed by the question, Wilder lost his cool with the reporter and began shouting in front of the whole room: “Your people too. Your people too.
“You know what I’m talking about, you all know what I’m talking about.
“Don’t sit up here and try to bait. Y’all know what the f*** I talk about when I say these things. Your people too.
“I ain’t gotta explain what’s understood, Radio Rahim.
“If ain’t nobody understand that, then God be with them, go look up the history.”

Refusing to finish there, Wilder then took off his glasses and stepped straight to the reporter, looking him dead in the eye as he continued to shout in his face.
“How dare you just sit up there and say explain, you know what I’m talking about man.
“You know we’ve been fighting 400 years and still fighting to this day. To this day.”
He then simply turned away and left the room, adding: “Man, I’m outta here bro.”
