It was an amazing start by the champion as he rocked Frampton twice in the opening two rounds.

The pressure from the younger fighter proved to be too much for the 31-year-old from Belfast, who was gracious in defeat and praised the defending IBF world champion.

After beating Lee Selby in May to defy his underdog status, Warrington was at it again as he took everything Frampton had and threatened to take him out at times.

As the fight went on, Frampton tried to take the shots to the body to wear Warrington down. But the defending champion fought like a man possessed to retain his title.

As the fight edged into the later rounds, the Northern Irishman seemed to be getting back into the contest. His shot selection and the slower pace was seemingly suiting him.

But the 'Jackal' was undone by the insane conditioning of the fresher Warrington, who came back once again in the toe-to-toe exchanges to win the rounds.

Warrington was therefore awarded a unanimous decision by two scores of 116-112 and one of 116-113 in the first defence of his world title as he extended his unbeaten professional record to 27-0.
