Liam Smith vs Sam Eggington result: Liverpool man enjoys knockout homecoming, Anthony Fowler suffers upset defeat on undercard

Liam Smith knocked out Sam Eggington in five rounds to cap off an entertaining night of boxing in Liverpool on Saturday night.
David Price won by shock, bite disqualification and Scott Fitzgerald upset Anthony Fowler on a show which enthralled fans at the M&S Bank Arena.
It was clear not long after the main event began that there was a clear disparity in levels between former world champion Smith and former European champion Eggington.
The homecoming Scouser suffered a WBO title defeat to Jaime Munguia last July, but quickly showed his class against his Birmingham-based opponent.
After four rounds, Sam Eggington's right eye was starting to seriously swell with Liam Smith leathering home sharp, accurate combinations.
In the fifth, the bout was stopped - not a moment too soon - as a pummelling ensued.
Despite the impressive performance, Smith declared post fight: "It was the worst camp I've ever had. Niggles, injuries, glad to get it out the way.
"This was the first fight of a couple I've done, hopefully I can be back out in quite quick succession.
"Give me two fights, then anyone at the end of the year."
Earlier in the night, Scott Fitzgerald earned an upset, career-best win over bitter rival Anthony Fowler.
The underdog emerged with a split decision victory at the end of a thrilling fight in which he recovered from being badly hurt in the ninth round to drop Fowler in the tenth.
Also on the undercard, David Price won by bite disqualification against Kash Ali in a bizarre bout and Robbie Davies Jr beat Joe Hughes for the British and European super-lightweight belts.
