‘He needs banning’ – Carl Froch gives his opinion on Kash Ali’s bite disqualification against David Price

The former super-middleweight champion was not impressed with what he saw from the heavyweight

Carl Froch believes Kash Ali should receive a ban from boxing after being disqualified for biting David Price on Saturday night.

The 27-year-old Birmingham heavyweight sunk his teeth into his Liverpool opponent’s neck, arm and then stomach, causing the referee to throw him out in the fifth round.

On reflection, retired super-middleweight king Froch told talkSPORT: “I’ve got three young kids and they’ve all bit each other at some stage.

“But it’s when they’re very young and they get a bit frustrated, don’t they?

“It is a human instinct from a young age, but when you’re an adult you just don’t do that by instinct, it’s ridiculous.

“It’s like Tony Bellew said, ‘It’s disgraceful, it’s out of order, he should be banned,’ and he should be, he’s dead right.

“You can’t go into a professional boxing ring – you can’t go into anywhere actually – and start biting another human being.

“It’s just not acceptable, but especially in a controlled environment, in a licenced profession like boxing, you can’t be biting somebody, you just can’t do it.”

Following the incident, Kash Ali has had his boxing licence suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control.

He will likely appear before the Central Area Council this month to decide his fate.

“I think he needs banning, doesn’t he?” Froch continued, “I think he needs a ban so we don’t see him in the ring for six months at least.

“I know it’s a man’s living, but if he wants to earn a living in professional fighting, then he can’t be doing what he’s done.”
