Boxing news: Joseph Parker vs Derek Chisora deal ‘nearly there’ for October 26 in London

Joseph Parker has declared that the deal for him fight Derek Chisora next is ‘nearly there.’

The former WBO heavyweight champion left his home country of New Zealand on Monday to fly out to the US and begin training camp with long-time coach Kevin Barry

Before departing, he spoke to reporters about the potential fight with Britain’s Chisora and said: "It's nearly there, but the last four or five weeks it's been very hard to communicate with them.

"We are going into camp a little bit blind. I'm not so much angry, just frustrated that it has taken so long.

"I just want to punch Chisora in the face… he has been calling me a chicken. To be honest, as an old dog he has more experience than me but he has more losses than me.

"I want to knock him out, that's what I want to do."

Eddie Hearn has previously stated that October 26 is the target date for this bout, with London’s O2 Arena the planned venue.

However it is currently unclear whether Parker vs Chisora will headline its own show, or be shared with Regis Prograis vs Josh Taylor in the World Boxing Super Series final.

Prograis vs Taylor was in massive doubt just a couple of weeks ago, but there are rumours it will be salvaged for October 26 in London.

It's hypothetically possible that a deal could be struck to fuse the two events together for a pay-per-view show broadcast on Sky – who showed the WBSS semi-finals – however this is just speculation at present.
