David Price has made Dereck Chisora ‘weak as a kitten’ after hypnotising him at the weigh in

David Price claims to have hypnotised opponent Dereck Chisora at the weigh in ahead of their fight on Saturday night at the 02 Arena.

The British heavyweights will square off for real in the capital before the super-lightweight title fight between Josh Taylor and Regis Prograis kicks off.

Chisora was originally scheduled to fight former WBO champion Joseph Parker, but the New Zealander pulled out due to a spider bite and it opened the door for Price to step in.

The two men are close friends, with Chisora helping Price rediscover his confidence and telling him not to retire a few years ago. Despite the mind games played by the north London native, Chisora is adamant it is just business on Saturday.

Famed for his mind games and maverick approach to the fight game, the 35-year-old knows there is plenty on the line at the 02 and made Price wait on the scales on Friday.

But the Liverpudlian believes he has already gained a psychological edge on his opponent and insisted the mind games will not work.

  • David Price - 18st 12lbs 4oz

"No chance of that happening," Price told . "I'm just nice and calm and relaxed really.

"I've just said to him then, even though I couldn't see [through] his sunglasses, I've looked into his eyes, I can hypnotise him. I have been taking lessons on how to hypnotise.

"Told him he's going to be as weak as a kitten tomorrow. He said 'it's the only chance you'll have', but you know what, I'm looking forward to it.

"This is what it's all about, testing myself against top, top heavyweights and this is going to be a great fight.”

Barry Hearn joined talkSPORT last week and claimed whoever loses this fight will have no other option but to retire.

Hearn, the founder of Matchroom Sport, admitted Price would have gained confidence after his win over Dave Allen, but warned the 36-year-old of the perils of staying in this unforgiving game for too long.
