Chisora wins European Heavyweight championship

Dereck Chisora moved one step closer to securing a fight with one of the Klitschko brothers after he defeated Edmund Gerber to become European Heavyweight champion.

Chisora defeated the 25-year-old Kazakhstan-born German fighter in the fifth round at London Olympic Park's Copper Box Arena after he dominated the fight.

The Londoner tested Gerber early on with a few uppercuts before attacking his head and body with a volley of shots.

Gerber came back into the fight in the fourth round which was much more even, but Chisora's workrate earned him a stoppage in the fifth, with the referee waving it away.
