Conor McGregor tipped for boxing return in next 12 to 18 months by coach John Kavanagh amid Floyd Mayweather rematch rumours

Conor McGregor’s coach has tipped him to make a boxing return in the next 12 to 18 months.
The UFC star’s only professional boxing match came in a losing effort to the undefeated Floyd Mayweather in August 2017.
McGregor reportedly earned $85million (£65.8million) from the showdown as he was knocked out by Mayweather in the 10th round.
The Notorious returned to the octagon after a 15-month absence as he beat Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in 40 seconds at UFC 246 in January.
And McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, has backed McGregor to compete in a boxing ring again.
He told : “I'd honestly be surprised if Conor doesn't have a boxing match in the next 12 to 18 months.
“He loves boxing. He loved the training for the Mayweather fight.
“It has to be something big, whatever he does seems to always get bigger. He's always looking for that next step up.”
There have been rumours of a rematch between Mayweather and McGregor in recent months.
Mayweather, who is 50-0 in the ring, has not boxed since beating McGregor and insists any potential comeback must be worth his while.
He said: “There are two names right now.
“We talked about the Conor McGregor fight, we talked about the Khabib [Nurmagomedov] fight.
“For myself, the number is $600m. If I’m going to go out there and risk it, it’d have to be worth it.”
