Boxing news: Danny Williams offers Mike Tyson rematch, 16 years on from stunning KO victory, as former heavyweight plots comeback

Danny Williams wants the opportunity to conquer Mike Tyson again - after the boxing icon signalled his intention to return to the ring at the age of 53.

The legendary former heavyweight world champion has revealed he was considering a comeback for charity exhibition bouts.

And Williams, who pulled off a huge upset when he knocked out Tyson inside four rounds in 2004, has revealed his representatives have already sounded out the American about the prospect of a rematch.

He told : “I can confirm that a few of my agents have put my name up to fight ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson.

";We are still awaiting an answer but it’s definitely a fight I want.

“I’m very interested in facing Mike Tyson again."

Williams, 46, has a record of 54-28, while Tyson retired in 2005 with a record of 50-6.

Remarkably, the Englishman has still not called time on his own career, fighting as recently as November in Germany.

Magazine Boxing News published an open letter last year pleading for Williams, who has lost 25 times since his shock triumph over Tyson, to retire from the sport.

However, that is not something he has considered because he needs to continue to box to be able to support the cost of his daughter's private education.

Tyson, who at the age of 20 won the world heavyweight championship to cement his name into heavyweight history, claims to be in great shape.

“I do two hours on cardio, I do the bike and the treadmill for an hour, then I do some light weights, 300, 250 reps," he revealed.

“Then I start my day with the boxing thing, I go in there and hit the mitts, 30 minutes, 25 minutes, start getting in better condition.

“I’m start to put those combinations together. I’m in pain, I feel like three guys kicked the s*** out of me.”
