Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield’s ear and then made more than $3m fine after by taking pictures with fans

Mike Tyson's bank account may have taken a hit for biting Evander Holyfield's ear, but he made it all back - and then some.
The self-styled ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ was fined $3m for ripping the top of Holyfield’s ear off during their heavyweight title encounter in 1997, which became known as 'The Bite Fight'.
It was one of the most shocking moments in the history of the sport and the Nevada Athletic Commission came down hard and revoked his licence as well as hitting him with the maximum financial penalty they could.
And when joined by NBA legend Dennis Rodman in May, Tyson revealed he has no regrets about the incident - and claimed he made even more back.
"I never even think about it," Tyson said.
“However, I think about how much money that I made from taking pictures of biting people that it supersedes the $3m that I lost.
"I look at, after three or four years, and think 'whoa, that's how much I made?'
“That’s what it makes it funny for me. Yes, I bit his ear but I made that back from taking pictures.
“So I can never beat myself up about it."
Holyfield is now attempting to rematch Tyson for a third time having watched his former rival's draw with Roy Jones Jr in their LA exhibition.
On the infamous incident, Holyfield has previously explained he was planning on biting Tyson's face before the referee intervened.
“I was getting ready to bite the daylights out of him and I was going to bite his face!” he told Joe Rogan on the UFC commentator’s podcast.
“When you’re from the ghetto, they say that when you have something done to you, you’ve got to do it worse back."
However, former cruiserweight champion Glenn McCrory is adamant he will face Holyfield next, telling talkSPORT the pair could fight in London next year.
