‘Francis Ngannou is dumber than he sounds’ – Dillian Whyte rips into ‘boring’ and ‘cowardly’ UFC star for heavyweight boxing ambition

British boxer Dillian Whyte labelled Francis Ngannou 'dumb' and 'boring' for outlining his plans to move into heavyweight boxing.

Earlier this month, France-based Ngannou proved his status as one of the most powerful punchers in the UFC by knocking out Jairzinho Rozenstruik within 20 seconds.

The 33-year-old has made no secret of his desire to crossover into boxing, having trained with Mike Tyson and called out Tyson Fury last November.

"Yes, I would have a boxing match," Ngannou said recently. "Whoever is possible and whenever is possible. The top heavyweights.

"I am always confident in my power. I have no doubts with my power."

But Whyte, the WBC's 'interim' heavyweight champion who had a successful early career in MMA, has laughed off Ngannou's plans.

"Ngannou is dumber than he sounds if he thinks he's going to do anything in boxing," Whyte told .

"If he turned up to fight me like the coward that he was against Derrick Lewis I'd hurt him and knock him clean out.

"That was officially the most boring fight in UFC history. The only thing more boring is his personality.

"If I called him a potato it would be a compliment. He reminds me of that other deluded coward Deontay Wilder.

"Ngannou has to be the most boring man on the planet. A speck of dust has more personality."

However, Whyte admits he would be willing to accept the challenge if Ngannou was serious about moving into heavyweight boxing.

Whyte added: "If he wants it and wants to earn some real money, let's get it on and stop talking about it. Don't talk about it, let's just do it."
