Now, the fight is finally on and has got the entire boxing world talking. Here, marvelbet369.com looks at what some of the great and good have said about the huge domestic dust-up...

Former heavyweight champion Frank Bruno - Dubois

Bruno said: "It should be fireworks. Joe is a spoiler, very big, 18 stone. Dubois is about 17 stone and has been knocking them out like skittles.

“It should be a good fight and I can’t wait to see it.

"Dubois is my favourite one for this fight, but it ain't gonna be easy.

"It could be over in a round, you never know, but I don't think it's gonna be that easy."

Former heavyweight champion David Haye - Joyce

Haye said: “There are question marks about both of them and both of them will ask questions about the other and the first round will be key. It could be over in the first round. These guys literally could set out of the blocks and just come at each other.

“The adrenaline is flowing and you’ve got that Tommy Hearns vs Marvin Hagler energy where they both want to show they are the greater fighter and they want to show it straight away. ‘Let that bell ring because I cannot wait to lay my fists on this guy!’ That is how I think this fight is going to be.

"I can see it going both ways, I can see Dubois being able to stop Joyce in an early shootout.

"But if it's not an early shootout and becomes a boxing match, long-range, jab, jab, looking for breaks - I believe that works in Joe Joyce's favour.

"I'm gonna lean towards the man that I know. I know him personally. I've seen him up close take some beatings, he soaks it up.

"So I'm gonna have to go with the guy that I know Joe Joyce by points decision or late stoppage.”

Former British heavyweight champion David Price - Joyce

Price said: "It’s the intensity he fights at. It’s his unconventional, unorthodox style which can throw people a lot.

"Bryant Jennings is a top operator… and Joyce is getting in with him when he hasn’t even had ten professional fights.

"I believe (Joe) is an Olympic Gold medallist, really. So, Joe’s going into the fight in my eyes as the favourite."

Former cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew - Dubois

Bellew told talkSPORT: "I just can't see it lasting.

"If it does go past six rounds I fear for Daniel Dubois, that test hasn't come in his career yet and it'll show.

"But I can't see past Dubois in them first six.

"Joyce is too easy to hit, he takes too much damage. As durable as he is, he's shown immense amounts of bravery in his career, but I just feel it's gonna catch up with him."

Former welterweight champion Ricky Hatton - Dubois

Hatton told talkSPORT: “Joyce can look a little bit open, but he knows he has to tighten up his defence a little bit because he can’t take chances with Daniel Dubois.

“When he fought the German [Michael Wallisch] and in those first opening few rounds Joyce got tickled round the chin with nearly every shot he threw.

“So I think Joyce knows he can’t make that mistake again. Even though he is a little bit unorthodox with his punches, he had an exceptional amateur career and to do that, you have to have a sensational boxing brain.

“I think he will do his homework, he is a very clever fighter, it really is a pick ‘em fight.

“There are causes to pick Joyce and there are causes to pick Dubois. It’s very important to see who gets on to a good, confidence-boosting start.

“The only reason it makes me favour Daniel Dubois ever so slightly is that he might find the big one to nail Joe Joyce.

“He’s younger, he is fresher and it really is a toss of a coin type fight for me. But I think, if I had my last pound, it would go on Daniel Dubois knockout.”

Popular heavyweight Dave Allen - Joyce

Allen told talkSPORT: "It is an outstanding fight and it is the best fight between two British fighters for as long as I can remember. This fight is so much bigger than Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte was in 2015.

“Dubois is a nailed on future heavyweight champion of the world but, in saying that, I still favour Joe Joyce to beat him. Joe goes into the fight as a favourite for me.

“Daniel has passed the eye test but has not won the medals and got the experience that Joe has as an amateur. Joe has got the best win as a pro in Bryant Jennings, so I favour Joe.

“But anything in that fight would not be a surprise. It is an absolutely brilliant fight.”

Current heavyweight champion Tyson Fury - Dubois early

Fury told : "That is a good fight. I've changed my mind on this fight a few times. I've sparred both lads don't forget.

"After really analysing the situation, I think Dubois. I think Dubois gets him early.

"If Joe Joyce can survive an early onslaught and take him into deep waters then I think Joe Joyce can win as well.

"But Dubois is younger, fresher, faster, punches very hard and is on a real roll at the minute.

"Joe starts slow and is like a plodder."

Current heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua - Dubois early or Joyce late

Joshua told : "Joyce can outwork him, if Dubois don’t stop Joyce early. If it's an early fight I'd go Dubois because he's a puncher.

"If Joyce outworks him I think it'll be a late rounds stoppage or he'll win on points because Joyce has really got a good engine.

"They're just different styles. Dubois hasn’t got the engine Joyce has, and Joyce ain’t got the power Dubois has.

"But Joyce is more experienced, he’s basically an Olympic champion. A WSB fighter, he's done a lot."

Former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis - Sitting on the fence

Lewis said: "It’s a terrific fight, it should be a barnburner.

“Dubois is a serious boxer, he comes in on a search and destroy mission and he’s trying to knock you out.

“The only problem with that is you feel so confident in your knockout power you have nothing to slow you down and tell you to watch out for the opponent.

“They can then hit you and stop you in your tracks, and that happened to me a couple of times.

“Joyce is more of a thinking boxer and I like the way he moves, he waits for the right opportunity. He knows Dubois is coming with that right hand – he’s not silly. He’ll be watching out for that, so Dubois better come with something different...

“I wouldn’t put Joe as too much of an underdog. Most guys that go to the Olympics end up being world-class fighters and champions."
