Evander Holyfield wants Mike Tyson as talks for a potential trilogy fight for this year continue.

The boxing legends were involved in two famous battles in 1996 and 1997, but despite their ages - now 58 and 54 years old respectively - they seem destined to meet again.

Tyson returned to the ring last year for an eight-round exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr.

In the aftermath, Holyfield called him out for a third bout by posting a statement.

It read: "My side tried to make the fight happen and we got nothing but excuses.

"Now I can see why he wanted a tune-up fight before thinking about fighting me.

"Roy Jones was a good local opponent for Mike, but a fight with me would be a global event and the only fight that anyone wants to see is a fight between us.

"There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't make it happen. No more excuses.

"This is the fight that must happen for both our legacies

"Sign the contract and get in the ring, Tyson. The world is waiting and it's on you now. I'm ready."

Holyfield since claimed that talks are ongoing and making positive progress, but he has now reiterated his call-out.

He posted a new training clip and added the caption: "Getting back in my rhythm, just waiting on my dance partner now Mike Tyson to show up. Where you at?"

Tyson's coach Rafael Cordeiro followed up by posting their own latest training clip, but made no mention of Holyfield, who last fought in 2011, in his caption.
A third meeting between the two would be big business considering the interest their initial fights generated.

Tyson was, against the odds, beaten in round 11 by the Real Deal in 1996.

But their rematch a year later is the most memorable for all the wrong reasons. Tyson was disqualified for biting into Holyfield's ear in what became known as the 'Bite Fight'.
