Exclusive: Haye could fight Vitali Klitschko, claims Fury’s trainer

Tyson Fury’s trainer has sensationally claimed David Haye could fight Vitali Klitschko once he has returned to fitness following shoulder surgery

Tyson Fury’s trainer has sensationally claimed David Haye could fight Vitali Klitschko once he returns to fitness following shoulder surgery.

The Hayemaker pulled out of his bout with Fury, due to take place in February, on Sunday night after an operation to rectify the injury and has been told to seriously consider retirement.

But Peter Fury believes the Bermondsey-born boxer may just be putting himself into a position to take a fight with the current WBC heavyweight champion and avoid battling his nephew.

“He [David Haye] will fight again. His retirement is only temporary,” the trainer told Hawksbee and Jacobs. “He’s got to say things like this to get out of his contract because it’s watertight. The only way the contract becomes void is through injury. He’s had every other injury in the book, so why not do the shoulder? Next time it’ll be something else.

“The injury has probably been there for a while and he has taken his chance to go and have it fixed and come up with another reason to veto the fight. I believe he had good intentions to take the fight at the beginning but since then something has happened.

“We just feel Vitali Klitschko has come up with a phonecall, hence the cut appeared, anything to step out of the fight.

“When you look at it, David Haye always wanted a Klitschko. So why take the hard route and take a defence against a 6” 9’ heavyweight when all of a sudden a Klitschko clicks his fingers?”
