Floyd Mayweather’s decision to fight Logan Paul left fellow boxing Hall of Famer Mike Tyson bemused.

With a 50-0 record, ‘Money’ - widely regarded as one of the best to ever lace up gloves - returned to the ring in June to take on the social media influencer in a lucrative exhibition bout.

Weighing a steady 155lbs for the bout in Miami, which had no official winner and no judges to score the bout, he was dwarfed by his novice opponent at 6”2' and was considerably heavier.

Although Mayweather estimates he earned $30million just from advertising on his shorts alone, there are those who fear he is tarnishing his legacy with these kind of bouts.

Josh Taylor and Ricky Hatton both took umbrage with the bout, while the youngest heavyweight champion in history was also left dissatisfied.

Speaking to Zab Judah in the aftermath of the fight earlier this year, Tyson warned Mayweather to start facing opponents more closer suited to his weight or else he could get embarrassed.

“I think Floyd should keep on trying,” he said on Instagram Live. “I don’t think he should fight a f****** cruiserweight.

“I think he should continue fighting guys his own weight. What the f*** is he doing? Fight [Manny] Pacquiao again or something, keep in shape.

“Now that I think about it, he should have had Paul lose a lot of weight. I was surprised [he didn't do that]. A smart fighter would have made him suffer, made him starve.

“It was harder than Floyd anticipated, I believe.

"Was he boxing a cruiserweight? How did he train for this, with experience?

“I believe when [Logan] was hitting him, he was hurting him a little bit because he’s not a 160-pound guy. [Logan is] a 190-pounder. I think that’s a heavyweight. 190-pounds to me is a heavyweight.

“I think [Mayweather] can learn from this one, fight guys more in his own category as far as weight is concerned.

“I think he’d make more money if he fought Pacquiao again. Floyd didn't make the guy chase him. You make the big guy chase you.

“He needs to fight a guy at more of his weight division, 155-pounds or 160-pounds."

Tyson, meanwhile, is said to be eyeing up a fight with Paul, 27. The 55-year-old former undisputed heavyweight champion said he is ready to return to the ring in February.

'Iron Mike' retired from competitive boxing in 2005, but laced up his gloves again in 2020 for an exhibition bout of his own when he faced Roy Jones Jr.

It was a draw and although his next opponent is unnamed, he said it would be a 'stimulating one.'
