Floyd Mayweather has stated that Gervonta Davis is set to keep fighting 'in-house' opponents moving forwards, rather than cross-promotional bouts.

The 26-year-old super-featherweight (130lbs) world champion moved up two divisions to super-lightweight (140lbs) and knocked out a solid unbeaten fighter in Mario Barrios on Saturday night.

Davis vs Barrios was an event staged by Floyd Mayweather's Mayweather Promotions and Al Haymon's PBC - with both fighters represented by Haymon.

This is the pattern Mayweather seemingly wants 'Tank' to follow moving forwards.

He said at the post-fight press conference when Gervonta was asked about his next fight: "His team are gonna take care of that.

"Our thing is this, we work smarter, not harder. So we keep everything in-house.

"Mayweather Promotions/PBC, we're all one family.

"We're not gonna go away and make another company great.

"We've got plenty at 140lbs, 135lbs, 130lbs. We're gonna continue to fight the fighters that we've got to fight."

This news will come as a blow to many fans as the majority of the best fighters in each of those weight classes sit outside of the PBC stable.

At 130lbs, PBC have promising prospect Chris Colbert, but the biggest stars such as Oscar Valdez, Jamel Herring and Shakur Stevenson are all with Bob Arum's Top Rank.

At 135lbs, PBC have contenders Rolando 'Rolly' Romero and Javier Fortuna, but the top names like Teofimo Lopez, Vasyl Lomachenko, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia are all elsewhere.

And at 140lbs, PBC have worked with Regis Prograis and Mikey Garcia in the past, but undisputed champion Josh Taylor is with Top Rank.
