Canelo Alvarez ‘closing in’ on undisputed fight for all four belts against unbeaten American Caleb Plant

Canelo Alvarez is reportedly closing in on an undisputed title fight with Caleb Plant on September 18.
Mexico's pound-for-pound king has run through the super-middleweight division like a steam train since returning to 168lbs in December.
Canelo dominated Callum Smith to take his WBA title and win the vacant WBC.
He then battered overmatched mandatory Avni Yildirim in February and stopped Billy Joe Saunders by breaking his eye socket in May.
With the Saunders win, Canelo became a three-belt WBA, WBC and WBO champion, needing just the IBF to be fully undisputed.
Step forward current champion Caleb Plant.
According to , Canelo and Plant are in the process of finalising a deal to meet on September 18.
Due to his free agent status, the 31-year-old has been able to compete on whichever network he chooses since his release from Golden Boy last year.
Canelo has worked with Eddie Hearn on DAZN for the Smith, Yildirim and Saunders fights.
Now he will jump over and work with Al Haymon's PBC on FOX PPV to face Plant.
Plant has a record of 21-0 (12 KOs).
He became world champion with an impressive dethroning of Jose Uzcategui in January 2019.
Plant has since made three successful defences, but not competed anywhere close to Canelo's level thus far.
