Dave Allen returned to action with a second-round knockout in his comeback fight on Friday night.

The popular heavyweight stopped Italian journeyman Andrea Pesce with relative ease in his low-profile return.

Allen quit the sport at the age of 28 last November.

He told talkSPORT he was ‘scared to fight’ having been hospitalised after the David Price defeat and said he’d ‘had the fight beat out of me’.

Now though, the heavyweight is 29 and has seemingly found a new mindset.

In April, Allen posted an image of himself with promoter Dennis Hobson and announced: “I had a meeting today and I wanted to come back and box, but I want to come back at a low level."

Allen was supposed to box Christopher Lovejoy back in October, but the fight fell through due to last-minute contractual issues, prompting his retirement decision.

He also had a worrying moment sparring Oleksandr Usyk in Ukraine.

Regardless, he is now back in the ring and aiming to keep winning.
