Holyfield, who is now 58 years old, holds a record of 44-10-2 compared to Belfort's UFC record of 27-14.

The legend of boxing returns to the ring for the first time since 2011.

In June this year, it was announced that Belfort would be fighting a YouTuber, Michael 'The Real Tarzan' Holston but it was soon cancelled.

Holyfield is stepping in to replace Oscar De La Hoya, who had to withdraw after testing positive for COVID-19.

The event will also see Tito Ortiz face Anderson Silva and David Haye take on Joe Fournier.

Holyfield v Belfort: What’s been said?

Belfort said in June that after the De La Hoya bout he would fight Holyfield anyway, and now that is happening sooner than expected.

He told TMZSports: "This fight will sell like Muhammed Ali and George Foreman, it's because skills, it's because legacy, it's because they paved the way for this generation here today.

"After September, December is me vs Holyfield. Get ready for the crossover!

We are taking over, Triller is bringing the fights. A huge dream."

Holyfield has been linked with another bout against Mike Tyson and hasn't ruled it out for the future as he believes that the fight would be 'the biggest'.

"My views are you always help people. I try to pass on the goodness that was passed onto me," Holyfield told .

"Where an opportunity is available, I like to make the best out of what I have. I believe if I fought Mike the fight will generate $200million.

"It will be the biggest fight there is. That’s the honest truth. I think Mike has my message already. If he is going to do it he is, if not then he’s not.

"It’s a decision he has to make now and we both have to be in an agreement."

Holyfield has also promised to fight YouTube star turned boxer Jake Paul, saying: "If he believes he can beat me, and he gave me enough money, oh, yes I'd get in the ring with him, and I'd show people what would happen."

The pair have already trained with each other ahead of Jake Paul's fight with Tyron Woodley last week.
