Mike Tyson believes Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder both became ‘all-time greats’ in ‘one of the greatest’ fights ever and Hall of Famer praises trainer Malik Scott

Heavyweight legend Mike Tyson believes Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder became all-time boxing greats after 'one of the greatest' fights ever.

A thrilling trilogy bout came to an end in round 11 when Fury knocked out Wilder, with both boxers hitting the deck twice.

Both men, particularly Wilder, took serious punishment and showed incredible heart to continue, at times defying belief as the Brit defended his WBC title.

Tyson, the former world champion, was involved in some of boxing's most spectacular fights - but even 'The Baddest Man on the Planet' was left dumbfounded by the action.

Many have placed Fury among the likes of Muhammad Ali in boxing's esteemed list of heavyweight icons - and Tyson, an icon himself, insists there should be a place for Wilder, too.

"Fury vs Wilder fight will go down as one of greatest," he wrote on Twitter.

"Not for skill but for action and excitement. That fight was all guts, heart and determination. Everybody won Saturday night. The fight was bigger than the hype. Both of them reached all time great status…"

Tyson reserved special praise for Wilder's trainer, Malik Scott, who allowed the American to go out on his shield.

Wilder had sacked former trainer Mark Breland for throwing in the towel during his first defeat to Fury - but Scott allowed the boxer to prove himself as a warrior, irregardless of his safety.

"Wilder’s coach Malik Scott won the night with great coaching," Tyson added.

"When you are an amateur you have a coach, they nurture you, guide you and are with you every step of the way. Once you turn pro you get a trainer.
A trainer is in your life as long as the checks are coming…

"A coach is with you for the rest of your life. A coach feels every punch you take and give too."

Fellow heavyweight legend, George Foreman, seemed to agree, when responding to a question on Twitter about how he would deal with Fury.

"Foreman, Frazier even Tyson: forget about us all; It’s a new day and it’s all about Tyson Fury and Wilder. They put on the best (Heavyweight) title Fight ever."
