Frank Warren claims Tyson Fury told brother Tommy he would ‘disown him’ if he lost to Jake Paul, right before knocking out Deontay Wilder.

The legendary promoter, who represents both siblings, has tried to organise a fight between the relative novices since August.

Paul called out Fury in March, with the pair exchanging verbal barbs ever since on social media, eventually coming face-to-face in Cleveland.

The YouTube star defeated Tyron Woodley in his home city, a night which featured Fury on the undercard against Paul’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor.

With Warren confirming an announcement could be made ‘in the next few days’, the Queensberry Promotions chief revealed just how much ribbing the 22-year-old received from his family.

Just before ‘The Gypsy King’ knocked out Deontay Wilder to retain his WBC heavyweight title, he and his brothers threatened to ‘disown’ the youngster if he lost to Paul.

“Well, it is a big gamble, but it is a very lucrative gamble,” Warren told talkSPORT.

“He’s getting extremely well-paid and I’m not going to stand in his way of getting serious, life-changing money.

“He gets paid a lot of money in a fight I believe he wins.”

He added: “He’s going to have to win the fight, otherwise the family are going to disown him!

“You should have heard them in the dressing room, just before the Wilder fight, I was there when they told him.

“Look, there will be a lot of pressure on Tommy and he will be in the other guy’s backyard.

“But he comes from fighting stock and I believe he has got the beating of him.”

Fury has already said Tommy would 'have to change his name' if he lost to Paul, while uncle Peter Fury suggested he 'take up dancing' if he couldn't secure a win.

Since making his professional debut in 2020, Paul has fought on a Mike Tyson undercard, knocked out Ben Askren in one round and has acquired a lucrative deal with US network Showtime Sports.

The 24-year-old from Ohio now consider himself to 'be boxing' and has even targeted optimistic fights with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Conor McGregor.
