The fight began with some positive early signs for Plant as his jab troubled Canelo early on.

It did not take long for the Mexican to start closing the distance though, as he consistently cut of the ring and hammered Plant with hooks to head and body.

Canelo finally made the breakthrough in round 11 as he smashed Plant with a left hook which put him on wobbly legs and then floored him with a follow-up right uppercut.

The American made it back to his feet, just about, but fought on for only seconds more before being put down again and finished with a series of right hands.

With the victory, Canelo was crowned undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO super-middleweight champion of the world.
