Tipped as a future darts superstar, Littler convinced thousands more of his ability by progressing to the second round, and the crowd in attendance were loving it.

The Ally Pally attendees were chanting 'school in the morning, you've got school in the morning’ while Littler joined in with them pumping his fist to the music after his win.

Speaking to Sky after the match, the Cheshire-born star gave a heart-warming tribute to darts legend Phil Taylor.

“When I was walking on I felt a bit nervous but as soon as I found the rhythm, I was in.

"I was 2-1 up and then if I did miss and Christian took it, I had the darts for the final leg. I always fancy myself for a last leg but it was good to do it then.

"It’s got to be at the top [of my best career moments]. I've been playing since I was 18 months old, obviously looking up to Phil Taylor. I know he's watching - that's for you, Phil!”

Littler will be straight back in action on Thursday in round two against Andrew Gilding and will likely have even more viewers tuning in to witness history.

Discussing his performance, former Welsh star Mark Webster said: "I thought he'd play well. Did I think he'd play that well?! Not a chance.

"That was incredible. He's fearless, he's so talented. Sometimes you're set up to fall when you come on these big stages, but there was no sign of that.

"He was dominant from the start. A 14-darter on your debut leg and he just enjoyed it.

"That's a statement performance. That's title-winning form and he's a serious threat in this competition now.

"I think he can win the whole thing! If he does that to Andrew Gilding, that'll send out another message."
