‘F*** off!’ – Michael van Gerwen forced to rank Wout Weghorst above himself in talkSPORT game

Michael Van Gerwen jokingly told a talkSPORT reporter to 'f*** off' after he was tricked into calling Wout Weghorst a better sportsman than himself.
The Dutch star is one of the biggest names in darts and can be truly considered as one of the top sporting exports from the Netherlands.
Chatting to talkSPORT, Van Gerwen was asked to do a blind ranking of five Dutch sportsmen.
Rather humbly, Van Gerwen put himself at number five on the list, acknowledging the the next four names would be above him in the list.
However based on his reaction, it was a decision that Van Gerwen instantly regretted.
Ajax icon Johan Cruyff was placed at number one, Formula One star Max Verstappen was named number two with Netherlands legend Ruud Gullit taking fourth spot on his list.
With just one position left, Van Gerwen was left fuming when current Netherlands striker Wout Weghorst’s name was read out.
“F*** off,” he joked. “Twelfth!”
He then burst out laughing and said: “You’ve killed me there!
“You kill me. When this goes out he’ll probably text me – oh well.”
Weghorst has enjoyed a successful career in football, with fruitful spells with AZ Alkmaar and Wolfsburg leading him to the Premier League.
He made 20 appearances for Burnley, before getting a shock loan move to Manchester United where he scored twice in 31 appearances.
Weghorst has also scored 10 goals in 32 appearances for the Netherlands and will represent his country again at Euro 2024.
