The final whistle goes and what a night it has been again for Arsenal! They win 2-1 on the night and 5-1 emphatically on aggregate to reach a first Champions League semi-final since 2009, where they will meet PSG. All the talk in Spain in the build-up to this one was about "La Remontada", or the comeback, after they were beaten 3-0 at the Emirates last week. But, in truth, this was an astoundingly poor display from Madrid. They had an early reprieve when Saka saw his poorly executed penalty saved by Courtois and their luck was really out when the referee overturned his original decision to award Mbappe a penalty, albeit rightly so as Rice had made very minimal contact. They failed to ignite in the second half, though, and Saka redeemed himself to score an absolutely brilliant team goal to put Arsenal in front, only for a calamity from Saliba to allow Vinicius to level things on the night shortly after. But Arsenal kept their nerve, and they grabbed a deserved last-gasp winner through Martinelli's counter-attacking goal. But one last word for Rice, who is named Player of the Match after a stunning midfield performance. The away fans are in great voice, and they can now look forward to seeing their team - whose xG of 2.05 was superior to Madrid's 1.50 - play PSG in the semi-finals. Thanks for joining us folks, until next time!

FULL-TIME: REAL MADRID 1-2 ARSENAL (AGG 1-5)
95'
And the last change sees Rice goes off. What an absolutely outstanding performance from that man tonight, head and shoulders above the rest. Zinchenko comes on in his place.
95'
Timber, who has been absolutely magnificent up against Vinicius all evening, is replaced by White.
95'
Martinelli's last touch of the evening is his goal as he takes a seat for Tierney in one of three Arsenal changes.
93'
It was an absolutely sublime throughball from Merino, who sent Martinelli clear at absolutely the right time to ensure Fran Garcia can't step up in time.
93'
GOAL!
Gabriel Martinelli
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL! MARTINELLI PUTS THE FINISHING TOUCHES ON THIS FOR ARSENAL! THEY'VE WON IT ON THE NIGHT TO LEAD 2-1, AND 5-1 ON AGGREGATE! THAT IS NOT A TYPO! The winger makes a lung-busting run through the centre of the pitch to collect Merino's exquisite throughball, and he has the composure to slide it past Courtois. What a performance this has been!

Odegaard gets a shot away from the edge of the box that Courtois parries into the air before collecting. The Madrid supporters are leaving the Bernabeu in their droves now...
90'
Brahim Diaz gets a shot away in the area, but it's easy for Raya to save while, shortly after, Endrick fires over from eight yards while off balance. There will be five additional minutes to play here.
89'
It genuinely looks like Madrid have just run out of ideas. For all the world-class attacking talent they have, all they've done all evening really is just try to put balls into the penalty area. As things stand, Madrid's defence of the Champions League is coming to an emphatic end. Another corner from the hosts comes to absolutely nothing.
87'
It's difficult to stress how impressive this has been from Arsenal. Madrid haven't come out with the sort of intent you would have expected at all, but part of that is due to how brilliantly the Gunners have defended. Just a few more minutes, plus stoppage time, to see out now...
85'
Ah, that is silly from Partey! The Ghana midfielder gets involved after the Rudiger challenge with Ceballos ending up on the floor. He gets a booking that will rule him out of the first leg against PSG (providing a late comeback from Madrid doesn't occur...)
85'
Oooh, that's a nasty one from Rudiger! He catches the back of Merino in an aerial challenge, and has his name taken.
84'
Saliba concedes a corner, which Modric goes over to take. It goes short and Arsenal defend it well.
82'
It looked like one of the coaches on the Madrid bench was sent off not long after Odegaard's shot. Vinicius then thinks he should have a corner after a great block from Saliba. It certainly looked like he should have been awarded one in fairness.
81'
CLOSE! Arsenal work the ball to Odegaard on the right of the area. The Norway ace cuts inside onto his favoured left foot, and bends his effort just wide of the right post.
80'
Vinicius wins a foul after being clipped by Timber around 20 yards from goal. Madrid work the routine, but Valverde's effort is charged down by the excellent Rice. Madrid have 10 minutes to muster something here...
79'
If you're an Arsenal fan, you certainly don't want to tempt fate...but this has been such a mature performance and a real street-wise one, too. Bar that one error from Saliba, there's been little sign of Madrid coming back in this game.
77'
Arsenal have now made a change, too, as goalscorer Saka - who missed that first-half penalty, don't forget - is replaced by Trossard.
75'
And there's another change here as Mbappe, who has had an awful evening, is replaced by Brahim Diaz after rolling his ankle. Is his first Champions League campaign with Madrid about to end with a whimper?
74'
Madrid look to the bench again as Asencio, on a booking, is replaced by the legendary Modric, who is a former Tottenham player, of course.
73'
There are not enough words to describe how good Rice has been over the two legs. He's been comfortably the best player on the park this evening.
71'
Odegaard swings in a free-kick from the left flank, but there's not enough purchase on it and Valverde heads clear comfortably.
69'
Well, that was quite the two minutes, wasn't it? Arsenal took the lead in sublime fashion to give themselves a four-goal cushion. But as brilliant as their goal was, the one they conceded was equal in its shambolic nature. It's still a huge task for Madrid, but you do not want to give them any sort of sniff in this competition.
67'
GOAL!
Vinícius Júnior
HOLD. THE. PHONE! MADRID HIT STRAIGHT BACK, IT'S 1-1 AND NOW 4-1 TO ARSENAL ON AGGREGATE. Oh, that is an absolute howler from Saliba! He gets caught out in possession by Vinicius, who can then just clip his shot into an unguarded goal with Raya nowhere to be seen. Surely they couldn't, could they?

65'
It was some throughball by Merino to pick out Saka, who applied an excellent finish.
65'
GOAL!
B. Saka
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! ARSENAL MAKE THE BREAKTHROUGH ON THE NIGHT! IT'S 1-0 AND 4-0 ON AGGREGATE! This is some goal! Saka actually starts it after receiving Merino's flick-on and picks out Odegaard. The Norwegian interchanges with Rice and then Merino, the latter of whom slips in Saka in the area, and the England ace clips it over Courtois in sublime style. What a moment in this game!

63'
So, we're into the last half an hour of the game (barring a late comeback and extra-time), and Arsenal still lead 3-0 on aggregate. There's been very little from Madrid in this second half, albeit Rice has been absolutely magnificent in midfield. There's still time for a miracle to happen, but Madrid will want to get the ball rolling on that front as soon as possible.
61'
And the last change sees Brazilian prodigy Endrick replace Vazquez.
61'
Fran Garcia enters the fray for Alaba who, in truth, has had a desperately poor evening by his standards.
61'
Desperate times call for desperate measures and Ancelotti is lining up a triple-substitution here; the first of which sees former Arsenal loanee Ceballos replace Rodrygo.
59'
Great recovery tackle from Ascencio as Odegaard plays in Saka. The England winger goes over to take the corner, but it's straight into the hands of Courtois.
58'
Timber has been superb so far tonight, and he denies another cross from Vinicius. Rodrygo nearly swings it straight in, but Raya scrambles across to concede another corner, which is - this time - dealt with more emphatically by Arsenal.
56'
You have to say at the moment that Arsenal are just toying with Madrid, so much so that you can hear chants of "OLE" from the away end over the whistles of frustration in the home end. Vinicius does get a long-range effort away, but it's easy for Raya.
54'
GREAT TACKLE! Bellingham gets played in behind the Arsenal defence but Rice, having initially been caught out, makes an excellent challenge to concede the corner, from which Mbappe heads Rodrygo's delivery over the top.
52'
Rice swings in a free-kick from the right that Merino meets with a header from the edge of the box, but it goes over the top. Shortly after, England team-mates Rice and Bellingham get into a tangle after a strong challenge from the latter. It quickly calms down, though.
50'
One thing that has been striking so far is how little Madrid have been able to get their superstar attackers involved. It's a play we've seen so many times in the past where Madrid amble their way through games, then kick into gear. Will we see something similar here tonight?
48'
Rodrygo wins the first corner of the second half for Madrid with a shot from distance that's diverted wide, but Arsenal clear it well through Saka.
46'
Letexier blows his whistle again, and we are back under way at the Bernabeu!
HT
The big question is, what sort of reaction will be see from Madrid - who have an xG of just 0.11 to Arsenal's 0.91 - in the second half? They need something if they're going to complete the comeback because, as things stand, Arsenal are coasting to a last-four tie with PSG.
HT
So, the half-time whistle goes, and it's a story of two penalties in the first half; one which actually ended up not being given. Asencio was pinged for hauling down Merino after a corner to gift Arsenal a great early opportunity, but Saka's woeful dinked effort was clawed away by Courtois. Rice was then pulled up after it was judged he tugged Mbappe to the ground but, after a five-minute delay, Letexier changed his mind and overruled his original decision. Away from those moments of high drama, Arsenal have been excellent against Madrid's star-studded line-up so far. But Los Blancos have a penchant for chaos, so this one is far from over. Still, so far so good for Arsenal, who lead 3-0 on aggregate with the score goalless on the night.
52'
HALF-TIME: REAL MADRID 0-0 ARSENAL (AGG 0-3)
51'
Oooft, good from Arsenal again! It's worked left once more to Martinelli by Rice. He takes a touch out of his feet and drills it at Courtois, who makes the save.
49'
Arsenal again have the chance to create something as Partey flicks one into Martinelli on the left of the area, but the Brazilian winger can't control it, and it bounces away for a corner.
47'
Aaah, that's poor from Odegaard! Arsenal have an opportunity to try and counter, but the skipper's pass out wide is behind Martinelli, who had plenty of space to run into.
45'
Unsurprisingly, there will be seven additional minutes to play in this first half after those earlier VAR delays.
44'
Timber has been excellent up against Vinicius so far tonight and he defends well to give away another corner that Merino heads clear from Rodrygo's delivery.
43'
Vazquez's dinked cross is headed behind for another corner, this one causes a few more issues with Merino's flicked header creating a bit of chaos. But Arsenal survive it.
41'
Timber concedes a corner, blocking Vinicius' ball into the area. Rodrygo goes over to take it, but Raya gets a nice strong fist on it to get the ball clear.
39'
You have to say, bar that penalty scare, Arsenal haven't been troubled too much...yet. There's still a long, long way to go, but it's been an impressive defensive display thus far from Arteta's men.
37'
Odegaard wins a corner from Rudiger after neat work from Saka. The latter goes over to whip in the corner, but there's a free-kick given against Merino.
36'
Arsenal keeper Raya is booked for delaying the restart at a goal-kick. It's very early to be picking up a caution for time-wasting...
35'
Rudiger gives away a silly foul on the left flank. Odegaard delivers it and the ball falls for Timber, whose snap-shot is well over the crossbar.
33'
Alaba clatters into the back of Saka in the centre circle. Ancelotti might want to consider replacing him at half-time because he's running out of chances, you feel.
31'
It opens up for Mbappe around 25 yards from goal, the France forward tries his luck with a dipping effort, but it's too high and too wide.
30'
You have to say, it looked an abysmal decision in the first place, so common sense did prevail. Having said that, why on earth did it take five minutes to reach that conclusion? This is a great spectacle, but delays like that really take away the gloss.
28'
WOW! WHAT A MOMENT! Letexier has decided after all the wait that it wasn't a penalty after all! He's changed his mind, Rice's yellow card is chalked off, and the Bernabeu is furious. It's still 0-0 on the night, and 3-0 to Arsenal on aggregate.
27'
Finally, the referee is being asked to go over to the screen. The delay here is absolutely absurd.
25'
The check is still ongoing here, this really is quite ridiculous from VAR.
23'
PENALTY TO MADRID!!! OH MY, WHAT A MOMENT! Madrid swing a cross in the penalty area, and Rice is judged to have pulled Mbappe to ground. The England midfielder is absolutely fuming and is convinced it's not a penalty. VAR are likely to look at this...
22'
Vinicius wants a penalty after being outmuscled by Timber in the penalty area but, despite his look of protestation, it was never a penalty in a million years and the referee is unmoved.
20'
Things have just got a little niggly these last few minutes with a series of cheap fouls. There is so much tension in this contest now. Bellingham does whip an excellent low centre across the face of goal, though, that just needed a Madrid team-mate to gamble on it.
18'
Since the start of the 2015-16 season, this will be the 16th time Madrid have played the second leg of a Champions League knockout stage tie at home. Of the previous 15, they’ve only been eliminated on one occasion (against Ajax in the last 16 in 2018-19), and progressed from the last eight in a row.
16'
It is such an interesting dynamic now in this contest. On paper, Arsenal are still well in command, but you sense Madrid might get a second wind. Vinicius wins their first corner after marauding with Timber, albeit it looks like a bad decision. Raya punches Rodrygo's delivery clear anyway.
14'
The follow-up corner from Rice is easily dealt with. Madrid have had an absolute let-off here. It was a cheap penalty to concede, but you have to question Saka's thinking behind trying that at this juncture of the game. It was poorly executed and the game remains 0-0, with Arsenal leading 3-0 on aggregate.
13'
SAVED BY COURTOIS! Oh, what a moment this is! It's Saka who steps up to take it. The winger went for a Paneka penalty, but Courtois gets across to make the stop. That is not the time or the place for that, you feel!
11'
Asencio also gets a booking for pulling Merino to ground in the area. He's now walking a tightrope, too.
10'
VAR!
PENALTY TO ARSENAL! Letexier goes over to the screen and around 90 seconds after the incident, he's opted to point to the penalty spot! What a huge moment in this game!
10'
VAR!
There's a check here for a potential foul from that aforementioned corner, with Asencio potentially dragging Merino to ground...this is interesting.
9'
Arsenal win the first corner of the evening that Rice swings in, but it's easily collected by Courtois.
8'
GREAT EFFORT! Saka up against Alaba is looking like a mismatch early doors. The England winger cuts inside the full-back and hits a low 20-yard drive that Courtois does well to parry away.
6'
It's been a lively start to this encounter with Madrid already baring their teeth with a couple of breaks. Arsenal have had some nice interplay as well, though, and Saka just lashes a right-foot shot wide of the left post.
4'
Ooooft that is very, very naughty from Alaba! The Austrian goes absolutely flying into Saka after Arsenal quelled another Madrid attack. It's a yellow. In truth, it's an orange; not quite a red, but not a nice one.
3'
GOOOOO-NO!! Madrid do have the ball in the back of the net, but it's a clear offside. Mbappe launches a counter and finds Vinicius in the left channel. The Brazilian cuts inside and his shot is chested in by Mbappe, who has a wry smile as he knows he's a mile off.
1'
French referee Francois Letexier blows his whistle, and we are under way at the Bernabeu!
0
The players are entering the pitch, the Champions League anthem is blaring around the stadium, and we are fast approaching kick-off here at the Bernabeu...
0
Madrid make two changes from the side that started the first leg, with Modric dropping to the bench and Camavinga suspended after a late red card at the Emirates. Vazquez comes in to start at right-back, with Valverde moving into the midfield three. Arteta has kept faith with the XI that won so convincingly last week, while Ben White is named on the bench after recovering from a knock.

However, the Gunners actually have a pretty proud record against Madrid. They have won two and drawn one of the three games played against Los Blancos, and have never conceded a goal against them. Should they register another shutout here, they would become the first side ever to keep four consecutive clean sheets against Madrid in the European Cup/Champions League.
0
But, as the saying goes, beware the wounded animal, and there is no animal in the Champions League kingdom more fearsome than Los Blancos. Madrid have won this tournament on 15 occasions and if you could bank on any team pulling off a memorable comeback, it would be the LaLiga giants. They have lost a knockout game in the first leg of Europe's top competition on four occasions, and did actually once overturn the deficit - a 4-1 reverse against Derby County in 1975-76, to triumph 6-5 on aggregate.
0
Arsenal were in dreamland last week when they secured a memorable 3-0 victory at Emirates Stadium courtesy of two sublime Declan Rice free-kicks, and a wonderful goal from Mikel Merino. It means they have a great opportunity now to get the job, and reach the semi-finals of Europe's premier competition for only the third time in their history.
