Real Madrid did enough to bring the gap to league leaders Barcelona back to four points with a hard-fought 1-0 away win at Getafe. The first half saw Madrid start to click into gear in the 18th minute, as Garcia forced a save from Soria after a Vinicius cross. This was a precursor to the opener, as three minutes later, Guler curled home a beauty from the edge of the box with the hosts struggling to clear their lines. Second-half changes saw Madrid look to get the job done, while gradually bolstering their rotated ranks ahead of the Copa del Rey final. For Getafe, substitutes Coba and Alvaro added an extra edge, yet the 12th-placed team from South Madrid just couldn't get anything to go. They agonisingly underperformed a 2.32 xG, with Courtois' late save in particular, breaking the Azulones' hearts. Ancelotti's side prevailed, despite under-performing their 1.40 xG. FULL-TIME: GETAFE 0-1 REAL MADRID

ALVARO! Getafe counter with blistering pace after Rodrygo goes down a little too softly in the home box. Coba bursts away down the left before crossing for Alvaro to force a save from Courtois in the bottom-left corner!

Asencio gets caught by Alvaro in the box. Peter doesn't like the theatrics, and his words to the Madrid centre-back bring himself a yellow card.

Both teams are looking a little tired at the death here. Camavinga is off due to his injury, so Madrid are down to 10 with no substitutes left.

A right-sided cross flies into the Madrid area, and Alderete rises to head on target. Courtois catches and looks to wind down the clock as he falls onto the ball.

A little melee breaks out in the Madrid box as a low cross from Coba on the left after a botched bicycle kick sees Courtois spill the ball. Alvaro jabs at the opportunity and catches the Belgian stopper, earning himself a yellow card. Alvaro will now be unavailable for his club's next game against Rayo Vallecano.

There will be six minutes of added time.

The injured Frenchman is back down on the turf as it looks like he's got a groin injury. He is in a lot of discomfort down there.

Camavinga is back up, albeit very gingerly.

An unsuccessful pass in-field from Alvaro on the Getafe counter leaves Milla in a tricky situation as Camavinga drives out of defence on the counter. Milla chops the Frenchman in half to earn a yellow card. It seems that the midfielder is in a lot of pain due to the landing. It was seen at half time, that the medical team were applying cream to his back. The heavy landing might end his evening.

Coba crosses from the left, forcing Ceballos to hook clear from inside the box. Vazquez is down now after getting caught by Alvaro's trailing leg in the press. Madrid are happy to eat up the seconds.

Arambarri has a go for the hosts, yet can only flash his shot comfortably over Courtois' bar.

The second change sees Mayoral make way for Juanmi.

Getafe go for one last throw of the dice with a double change. In the first switch, Ismael Beckoucha comes on for Djene.

Duarte has to head a long kick back to Soria. The defender just about gets the ball back to his stopper with Garcia pressing hard.

Nasty scenes here. Tchouameni has signalled to the referee that something discriminatory has been heard coming from the stands. Both managers have been called together with a police official, and this incident will be reported to the league.

Well, while one Madrid youngster in Endrick didn't exactly make the most of his opportunity, one certainly has. Goalscorer Guler comes off for Daniel Ceballos.

Alderete launches a long ball up to Mayoral, and he plays it back to Peter. However, the substitute's cross from the right is headed out by Camavinga.

There's a bit of a clash between Mayoral and Tchouameni as the two end up in a pile on the floor following a long ball. Mayoral is a bit lucky not to have words with the officials after pushing the Frenchman in the face.

Real Madrid's next change is pretty much like for like as Vinicius comes off for Rodrygo, who will likely shift over to the left side in the absence of Mbappe.

ARAMBARRI! HUGE MISS! Mayoral runs down the left and finds the Uruguayan free in the centre of the box. With time, he swivels and shoots, squirming an effort wide of the right post!

Getafe ultimately fail to make the most of the delivery, and quickly, the ball is back at the feet of Soria.

Tchouameni gets the first card of the game as he strongly lunges through Arambarri with the ball bouncing in front of him.

After play stops for an offside against Bellingham, Terrats comes off for another former Real Madrid man, Peter.

VINICIUS GOES ALONE! After Diaz dispossesses Arambarri a little harshly, the Brazilian drives away down the left before cutting back across the box and firing selfishly over. It didn't look like he saw Diaz and Bellingham arrive! Soria tips it over on a second look!

When Bellingham emerged, it looked as though he signalled to Vinicius 'two'. Perhaps it's a shift to a 4-4-2 for the final 30 minutes or so.

Endrick's first league start comes to an end as Jude Bellingham enters to help push this result over the line for Ancelotti's men.

After another good period of sustained pressure from Getafe, Camavinga dances through the hosts' midfield and decides to go solo. He runs on and shoots as he enters the box, only to see his effort blocked behind for a corner.

DIAZ! The Moroccan skips down Madrid's right before cutting back onto his left and forcing a fine diving stop from Soria!

Getafe's offensive efforts come to nothing before play stops as Bernat halts Diaz on the Madrid counter. There are still no bookings in this game.

ALVARO! The Getafe substitute nearly makes his mark as Coba crosses from the left. The striker nods just over Courtois' goal.

Getafe substitute Alvaro nearly latches onto a poor attempted Madrid clearance. It's blocked, but the flag was up for offside anyway. Up the other end, Endrick goes for a lob but completely fluffs it. His blushes are spared by the linesman signalling that he, too, was offside.

Vazquez and Mayoral clash briefly after a Getafe attack comes to nothing. The hosts then go for a long ball forward, but Asencio ushers it home to Courtois.

Interestingly, it seems that Bordalas has brought on two offensive-minded players for defenders. The hosts look to be switching to a back four now. Just what effect will this have? Can Getafe get something from this?

In the second of the double change, Berrocal comes off for Coba da Costa, a man promoted from the Getafe B team this season.

Bordalas opts for changes right after the interval as Iglesias comes off for Alvaro Munoz.

Getafe string together a handful of key passes in a fluid move. This ends with Arambarri having a go from the edge of the box, firing down into the bottom-left corner for Courtois to save.

And we're back in action for the second half.

Ancelotti goes for something of a reshuffle, with Alaba making way for Eduardo Camavinga. It looks like Tchouameni will drop into the absent centre-back spot.

Getafe have mainly operated on the counter in this game, and have shown strength when able to limit Madrid to a physical battle. However, the slickness on the ball from Vinicius and co. has made it difficult not to get penned in. The hosts have worked beneath a meagre 0.39 xG so far, while the leading away side have exceeded their 0.99 xG. Currently, the Opta Supercomputer has Real Madrid with an 80.3% chance of victory, while a draw is the next most likely outcome at 15.4%. A Getafe win, based on that first-half showing, comes in at just 4.3%.

The half-time whistle sounds south of the Spanish capital as Real Madrid lead Getafe 1-0. The hosts began well with Terrats finding Milla to conjure up a tame effort at Courtois. Just over 15 minutes later, Madrid started to turn on the style as Vazquez cut inside from the right to feed Vinicius to cross. Garcia forced a save from Soria before slamming the rebound out of play back the way it came. This was a mere precursor to the opener, as the 21st minute saw Guler curl home a beauty from the edge of the box despite the Getafe stopper's best efforts. After this, the 32nd minute saw a combination of Soria and Djene on the line deny Endrick, before six minutes later, Diaz stung the goalkeeper's gloves with a powerful effort. It's been all Madrid thus far, with possession (69%) and confidence on the ball (298 accurate passes) supporting what should really be a bigger margin.

HALF-TIME: GETAFE 0-1 REAL MADRID

As Djene shoves Vazquez to the floor, a minimum of two minutes of stoppage time is announced.

There have been eight fouls committed today. Yet still, the referee is showing a very relaxed approach to bookings. Will this change in the second half?

Vazquez looks for Endrick behind the Getafe defensive line with a curling pass. However, a tired Duarte shifts across to deny the Brazilian any scraps.

Vinicius skips a couple of central challenges outside of Getafe's box. He looks for Endrick but can't squeeze him through.

DIAZ! The Moroccan strikes in space on the right edge of the box, and Soria parries! Vinicius loiters, but the stopper amends his earlier shakiness to claim the ball apologetically.

Milla looks to try and latch onto a lofted ball into the box. Garcia rather sneakily pushes the midfielder as he goes up for a header. The referee sees nothing wrong.

Getafe soak up a lot of pressure before Iglesias decides to power away on the left. Vazquez does superbly well to tackle and bring a goal kick for his team.

ENDRICK THINKS HE'S MADE IT 2-0! A long ball reaches the youngster before he plays a cute one-two with Vinicius to get in on goal. He side-foots past Soria, who gets a touch, before Djene powers off the line!

The away side look a little more comfortable with the ball now. Vinicius is clearly playing with confidence, as he dances with the ball before pinging a trivela in-field from the right to Valverde.

After a scrappy start, the goal has given Madrid a bit of time to control the tempo. All is calm until Vinicius is brought down in his own half.

Bernat and Vazquez collide in mid-air in Madrid's defensive third. It looked like an accidental knee in the back as Bernat went up for the header.

After the 20-year-old Guler's strike, Real Madrid have now scored 30 first-half goals in 33 games. Only Barcelona (38) have scored more in LaLiga this season.

Iglesias goes for an adventurous run. He drives into the Madrid box and shoots, but Vazquez blocks it behind for a left-sided corner.

GREAT PLAY, VAZQUEZ! The day's Madrid captain drives down the right before cutting in and feeding Vinicius to power in a low cross from the byline. It's missed by all before Garcia forces a save from Soria before thrashing it wildly back where it came!

The Getafe corner causes serious panic inside the Madrid box until it's eventually cleared. Endrick tries to break but is smothered by Iglesias and Alderete. The former tells the Brazilian to get up after making a meal of the challenge. The hosts attack again, but Mayoral can't keep his header on target.

Madrid go short with their first corner, and Vinicius plays the ball across for Guler to hit one. It spirals off for another set piece. The outswinger is over everyone, and now Getafe can come away. Mayoral pops the ball past Garcia inside the visiting box and goes down without appeal. It'll be a corner to the hosts.

Terrats fires off target from range. Vinicius then picks up the ball on the counter and beats the Getafe number 11 before being tackled to earn a corner on the left.

The most quality we've seen so far? Djene breezes out of defence at halfway, presenting a golden touch on a falling long ball.

Garcia, high up from left-back, rises to keep a long ball in with his head. However, a stoppage comes after a combination of him being wiped out by Djene and his flick on to Vinicius setting the offside flag rising.

A personal battle continues! Endrick gets blocked off by a Duarte shoulder. Berrocal is then penalised for stepping across Vinicius on the left. The visitors have to be as disciplined as their determined, foul-committing hosts. They've got to rise to the physical challenge while also playing their own luxurious game.

Already, Getafe's structure is clear. Madrid will be facing a disciplined bank of five. Duarte and Endrick clash once again, but the Brazilian is told to get up. It's going to be interesting to see how the youngster deals with the centre-back. Back to the action, and Valverde is played in behind on the right. He goes for a lob and just floats it over the bar.

After Djene takes a ball to the face from Valverde, Duarte is down with a potential injury. We see a brief stoppage.

EARLY CHANCE! Terrats is found on the left for the home side and plays it back inside for Milla. It's the first shot on target in the game, but a tame one down to Courtois' bottom-right corner.

Endrick takes an early whack less than a minute in. He collides with Duarte off the ball. This could be a sign of a physical game ahead...

Referee Martinez meets with the captains of Vazquez and Djene. Following a respectful minute's silence for the recently departed Pope Francis, it seems that the hosts will get us underway, kicking from right to left.

Today's chief official is Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez. He leads the players out to this mini-derby's bubbling atmosphere. Real Madrid fans will be hopeful that their rotated players will show some fight and make this a little more routine than the game against Bilbao. That said, with Getafe's stubborn-looking formation, it looks like another tricky outing amid a difficult spell for the club.

Carlo Ancelotti makes six changes from Madrid’s 1-0 triumph over Athletic Bilbao as he prepares his group for the upcoming Copa del Rey, the most from one match to another this season. Antonio Rudiger comes out of central defence for David Alaba, while left-back Eduardo Camavinga is replaced by Fran Garcia. Lucas Vazquez coming in for Luka Modric has enabled matchwinner Federico Valverde to take residence in midfield. Daniel Ceballos, Jude Bellingham, and Rodrygo are all replaced by Brahim Diaz, Arda Guler, and Endrick.

Pepe Bordalas makes three changes for this clash with Madrid. Red carded in the 1-0 defeat to Espanyol, midfielder Chrisantus Uche is replaced by an extra body in defence, Juan Berrocal. Coba de Costa comes off the left wing for Juan Bernat, while the final change sees striker Bertug Yildirim swapped out for former Madridista Borja Mayoral.

Real Madrid keep their Barcelona-chasing title push alive tonight, as they make the short trip to the capital’s south to face 12th-placed Getafe. After Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Mallorca yesterday, Los Blancos come to the Coliseum to take on a Getafe side that lost 1-0 away to Espanyol. LaLiga’s currently second-placed team sit seven points behind the Blaugrana and enter this fixture following a late Valverde thunderbolt rescued three points in an underwhelming team performance against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. Although their form hasn’t been exactly stellar since their Champions League nightmare against Arsenal, Madrid still have a historic advantage in this fixture. After losing in three of their first five visits to Getafe in LaLiga between 2005 and 2008 (W1 D1), Real Madrid have only lost in two of their next 14 away games against Los Azulones in the top-flight (W10 D2).
