Mickelson: ‘Watching Wimbledon has inspired me’

Phil Mickelson has revealed he has been inspired by his visit to Wimbledon to watch the Men’s Singles Final between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

The 41-year-old American golfer was preparing for the Scottish Open, which began today, and he was left in awe at the high levels of athleticism shown by both players.

He said: “It was an inspiring experience because their level of play and level of performance was so high it was mind-boggling to me.

“To watch them compete with the power and precision that they competed with, the amount of work that goes into that type of play is impressive.

“It was really the first time I had seen a high-calibre men’s singles match and I walked away really in awe of their performance.”
