Jon Rahm set to join LIV Golf on deal ‘among the richest’ to date

Reigning Masters champion and Spanish golf sensation Jon Rahm is on the verge of signing a groundbreaking deal with LIV Golf, according to reports.
The deal is expected to be announced this week, and he will become the latest player to enrol in the Saudi Arabia-backed competition.
Rahm's impending deal is expected to be one of the most lucrative in the history of the sport at £450million.
The world number three is set to join before the December 31 deadline, which is the cut-off date for both the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund to join forces.
Known for his powerful and precise style of play, Rahm has been a force to be reckoned with on the PGA Tour, amassing numerous accolades and a devoted fan base.
According to , sources have confirmed the deal is expected to go ahead.
Born in the Basque Country in Spain, Rahm's most recent contribution was helping Team Europe beat the USA in this year's Ryder Cup.
The Spaniard's move has certainly come as a surprise, given that he previously expressed his commitment to the PGA Tour.
He even suggested that not even an upwards of £240m would change his mind, and he remained adamant he wanted to continue playing in the best competition.
The 29-year-old has also dismissed LIV’s format, dubbing it 'not a golf tournament', and recently quashed claims of him making the potential switch back in July.
He recently withdrew from the PGA-backed virtual golf league [TGL] created by both Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
Rahm was one of the earliest stars to sign up to the TGL, but is no longer listed as being set to take part.
It now suggests that it is only a matter of time before an announcement is made over his LIV Golf switch.
