The Players Championship purse: How much is on offer at TPC Sawgrass this week as PGA Tour’s flagship event takes centre-stage

The Players Championship is upon us, and it's one of the most lucrative events on the PGA Tour.
Golf's biggest and best stars will all be in attendance, eyeing the prestigious title and also looking to swell their bank accounts.
This tournament is seen as the fifth major, and the highlight of the PGA Tour season.
Its former winners consist of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy and another glittering field will be teeing it up once again come Thursday morning.
The Players Championship: Purse
The purse for the Players Championship is an eye-watering $25 million.
This is an incredible sum of money, and the majority of players will walk away with a good amount.

Of the 144 players involved, 90 of them will take home a minimum of $41,250.
That $41,250 represents 0.17% of the total prize fund.
The winner takes home a whopping 18 per cent of the $25m, meaning that individual will earn a cool $4.5m.
Second place takes $2.725m, third walks away with $1.725m. Fourth and fifth also take home more than $1m.

Of course, in the event of a tie, these fees are slightly lowered depending on how many players end on the same score.

The Players 2024: Date and how to follow
This tournament will get underway on Thursday, March 14 and will run until Sunday, March 17.
It is taking place at the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass, Florida and play is due to start at 11:40am UK time each day.
