Sir Nick Faldo: My Masters Champions Dinner was iconic but one golfer got it horribly wrong

If our calculations are correct, only 54 people on this earth have ever attended a Masters Champions Dinner at Augusta National.
Dating back to 1952 and taking place on the Tuesday night of Masters week, it is sport's most exclusive party.
Only the Augusta chairman and golfers with a Green Jacket are invited to attend, while the reigning champion hosts the evening with their own special menu.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall as Jon Rahm serves up a Spanish feast for a bunch of men who probably hated his recent move to LIV Golf.
Times were much simpler when Sir Nick Faldo won his third Masters title in 1996.
The six-time major winner went full Sam Allardyce: no-nonsense, route one, 4-4-2. None of this tippy-tappy stuff.
It was fish and chips. With mushy peas. And Sarson's vinegar.
And if you have ever frequented one of the many world famous Harry Ramsden's restaurants along the English coast, well, then you and Jack Nicklaus have one thing in common.
Speaking to marvelbet369.com, Faldo said: "My fish and chips... That was my best one. It was very successful. Everybody loved that.
"I flew in the fillets from Harry Ramsden's with these big chips as well - and mushy peas. They took one look at it, because they're fluorescent green, aren't they?
"They went, ‘What are these?’ I said, ‘Mushy peas'. They said, 'Mushy what!?’ So that went down well.
"I had Sarson's Vinegar as well. So I deem that one of the top three, honestly."
Faldo continued: "I can imagine it's going to be great evening with Jon [Rahm].
"We have canapes on the front balcony. I think Vijay [Singh] started that. He had a chef friend who brought some Asian nibbles in and we've done that over the years.
"We get our crab and shrimp and hams and cheeses, all sorts of things. So that's very nice. And so I can imagine that Jon's going to do something special."
There is a fine line between a cultural experience and a tacky meal.
And according to Faldo, champion Bubba Watson got that balance horribly wrong.
The Englishman added: "What was the worst one? Oh, it was Bubba, wasn't it? When we had Chuck E. Cheese.
"When we had a little hamburger and a little corn and a little ice cream.
"I think we had a milkshake as well. So, yeah, that was a lot."
Like any gripping episode of Come Dine With Me, the food is often secondary to the entertainment.
And for Faldo, it is the company which makes the Champions Dinner such a prideful and special thing.
"It can get it can get quite emotional," the golf legend added. "Because some of the old boys are getting on, or you've lost somebody and reminisce some old stories and that sort of thing.
"We usually have a good laugh as well. Everybody ribs [each other], especially when Jack [Nicklaus] says, ‘Well, it was pretty easy in 1965’. Everybody nearly beat him up on that one, which was quite fun. ‘So because you won by 10 or whatever?’
"It's usually very entertaining. I’m very, very, very proud to be part of that. It's pretty special."
