Westwood set to be world number one?

England’s Lee Westwood tees off alongside playing partner Tiger Woods in Thursday’s WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in the knowledge that by the end of the weekend he may have taken Tiger’s spot as world number one.
Both Westwood (currently number three in the world) and number two Phil Mickelson can overhaul Woods this week if Tiger’s current poor form continues.
It’s also a big week for Ryder Cup qualification as Colin Montgomerie’s European team takes shape.
But Monty has few worries compared to his US counterpart Corey Pavin – his team looks ordinary at best and if Woods slips out of the automatic qualifying spots there is every chance he will decline Pavin’s offer of a wild card.
