talkSPORT Exclusive – Poulter: ‘Tiger will be back’

Ian Poulter has tipped Tiger Woods to recover his best form and continue his challenge to top Jack Nicklaus' record for Major wins.

The Golden Bear won 18 Majors, four more than Woods currently has to his credit, but Poulter believes Tiger will put his recent personal problems behind him and continue his quest to be the greatest golfer of all-time.

Poulter told Kick Off: "I think there’s more to come from Tiger. We haven’t seen the best of him yet and I think he’s hungry to beat Jack’s record.

"He’s fit, he’s healthy and, once his mind’s straight, I think we’ll see Tiger Woods back to his best."

Poulter and his European team-mates will hope Woods doesn't find his best form before the Ryder Cup in October, which will be held at Celtic Manor, a course Poulter has fond memories of.

He won the Wales Open there in 2003, but expects a different challenge when Europe take on the United States.

He added: "It was a very different course. They’ve changed six of the holes now, but I should have plenty of time to get used to them in the week before."

And Poulter is confident the Europeans can regain the trophy they relinquished at Valhalla two years ago.

"The European side right now looks extremely strong," he insisted. "They guys that are in the sideat the moment are playing incredible golf, and so are the guys on the fringes.

"So I think it’s going to be one hell of a strong Ryder Cup team.
