UFC fighter Belal Muhammad slaps MJF during match with CM Punk in AEW

MMA stars have been making regular appearances in AEW over the past couple of years and Belal Muhammad was the latest to make his presence felt.

The number five ranked welterweight in UFC was in the front row as AEW Dynamite took place in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois.

During the main event between MJF and CM Punk - who is also a Chicagoan - Muhammad got involved in the action by laying in a Ric Flair-esque slap to MJF’s chest.

Many wrestling fans thought it was a fan at first until the penny dropped. Muhammad shared the footage himself, too.

Muhammad has won six fights in a row including a very impressive victory over Stephen Thompson last time out in December last year. 

His bout with Leon Edwards in March last year is the only discrepancy on his recent record after the fight was ruled a no contest for an accidental eye poke from Edwards.

CM Punk has named Muhammad in his favourite UFC fighters in the past and Punk himself has a brief UFC career before returning to wrestling. Punk was 0-2 in the UFC.

“I love watching Belal Muhammad fight,†said CM Punk. “Actually, it’s not true, I hate watching Belal fight because he’s a buddy of mine – so, it’s nerve-racking.

“I love watching him win, I think he’s on an incredible tear, and he’s maximizing the time that he has. He’s using his social media – 100% the right way.â€

Now that Punk is back in professional wrestling with AEW, he’s been enjoying himself in an environment with more creative freedom.

Although Muhammad helped land some licks on MJF, Punk would ultimately lose the match signalling his first loss in AEW overall since returning to wrestling last August.

Dan Lambert, the founder for American Top Team, is another name who appears regularly in AEW and he has brought with him names like Jorge Masvidal and Paige VanZant in the past.
