Before the millions of dollars, lucrative endorsements, rivalries and multiple records, Conor McGregor was just a kid from Ireland with a dream.

His vision was to compete inside the octagon, become rich beyond his wildest dreams and have a different car for every day of the week.

Having gone through the Cage Warrior ranks in rapid fashion, McGregor set about quickly establishing himself as one of the best featherweights on the UFC roster.

Upon his comeback from a debilitating knee injury, a title shot with Jose Aldo was scheduled for UFC 189 in July 2015 and it soon became apparent just how big the event would be.

As part of the build-up, UFC president Dana White organised a worldwide tour and several promotional events which left the Irishman requiring a stunt double to perform certain tasks.

During the promo tour, McGregor met William Joe Tussing and even posed for photos with his body double when they met.

Having asked Tussing not to smile during the picture, McGregor was later caught on camera giving his real thoughts on the man he'd just met.

"That mother f***** don’t look like me," he smirked - and he was not wrong.

McGregor, who ended up fighting Chad Mendes for the interim belt at UFC 189, then established himself as one of the world’s biggest stars and is currently trying to recapture his former glory.

Boxing matches with Floyd Mayweather and the highest-grossing UFC fight of all time against Khabib Nurmagomedov matter little to the Irishman now, who is desperately seeking a comeback after back-to-back defeats to Dustin Poirier.

In his time off since his injury in July 2021, he has bulked up and looks likely to return to the octagon in the welterweight division.
