Conor McGregor sparks Nate Diaz trilogy rumours on social media before comeback – but UFC legend prefers Dustin Poirier fight

Conor McGregor has sparked rumours about a potential comeback fight against Nate Diaz with an intriguing social media post.
The Irishman last competed in the octagon at UFC 264 when he suffered a horrific leg break against Dustin Poirier in their bad-tempered trilogy fight.
Speculation about who will welcome McGregor back has been more readily discussed than if or even when McGregor will return, with Diaz a strong candidate after their two fights.
Since their last fight in August 2016, McGregor has won just twice, but that has not stopped ‘The Notorious’ from aiming a dig at Diaz on social media.
The 33-year-old uploaded a video of himself dropping a bloodied Diaz in their second fight, which caused ripples to fly through the American’s body.
McGregor cheekily captioned it, ‘Nate Diaz t**** shake on the drop!’
Although the former two-weight world champion still has tremendous commercial appeal and clout in the sporting world, Diaz believes he must rebuild after successive defeats to Poirier.
When asked about his interest in the trilogy, he told : “Not right now. He's got a lot of work to do.”
He went on: “I'm on my last fight on my contract right now. I would like to fight Dustin Poirier now. Next month when s*** changes or people win and start doing something entertaining, or something going on, it's all going to be different, I'm sure.
“That s***'s obnoxious to me,” Diaz said of social media. “For me, I got a bigger following than the rest of the people and they're not letting me fight, so what do I got to do? I've got to s*** on them from the internet.”
The first two fights between Diaz and McGregor sold 1.3million and 1.6m pay-per-view buys respectively.
The Stockton slapper has not fought since June when he was outclassed by Leon Edwards at UFC 263, a fight he nearly snatched at the death.
