He will appear before a district court next month.

A police statement read: "Gardaí arrested a man aged in his 30s in relation to an incident of dangerous driving in the Palmerstown area yesterday evening, Tuesday 22nd March 2022.

"The man was taken to Lucan Garda Station where he was later charged. He has been released pending an appearance before Blanchardstown District Court at a later date."

His car was also temporarily seized and his representatives released a statement.

A spokesperson for the UFC star said: “Mr McGregor was driving to the gym when he was stopped by gardaí for alleged road traffic violations. He passed the drug and alcohol tests taken at the station.”

McGregor is still making his way back from a nasty leg break in his last fight, which was against Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

Despite just one win in his last four fights, McGregor said he was targeting a bout with welterweight champion Kamaru Usman on his return.

The UFC and Usman have both insisted that the next fight to make will be against Brit Leon Edwards, who is on a nine-fight win streak.

McGregor was the second UFC star to be arrested this week as Jorge Masvidal was charged with aggravated battery and criminal mischief following an altercation with Colby Covington.
