Michael Chandler scored perhaps the best knockout of 2022 when he landed a picture-perfect front kick on fight legend Tony Ferguson at UFC 274.

The former Bellator champion re-established himself as a genuine lightweight title contender by becoming the first man to ever properly knock out ‘El Cucuy’ inside the Octagon.

Chandler didn’t have things all his own way against Ferguson, who has now lost four fights in a row.

The UFC fan favourite scored a heavy knockdown in round one. Chandler popped back to his feet and a firefight ensued, with both men landing heavy shots.

Chandler eventually thought better of trading it up with ‘El Cucuy’ on the feet and took the fight to the floor. However, things were just as tough when they got there.

The one-time UFC title challanger was cut from Ferguson’s strikes from bottom before he ultimately started to land some good stuff, cut his opponent, and ride out the round in top position.

At the start of round two, Chandler opened up with a front kick that landed perfectly on the face of Ferguson, sending him tumbling to the canvas.

After picking up the most impressive KO win of his career, Chandler got on the mic and called for a fight with UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

The Irishman is closing in on a return to action after suffering a catastrophic leg injury at UFC 264 in July 2021.

‘Notorious’ has revealed he will make his comeback at welterweight and Chandler is happy to step up to 170lbs for the fight.

“I got one dude on my mind,” Chandler told Joe Rogan post-fight.

"Conor McGregor! You gotta come back and fight somebody!

“I am the most entertaining lightweight on the planet. I wanna up the stakes, Conor. I want you at your biggest, I want you at your baddest, and I want you at your best.

"You and me at 170! This summer, this fall, this winter. Holla at your boy. God bless. I’ll see you at the top!”

McGregor took to social media to congratulate Chandler on his win and respond to being called out by the American for a fight he appears to welcome.

"I'd have a nice knock off this guy, no doubt about it. A firework spectacle. I like the 170 shout also. Tipped him over, he wrote on

"I’m definitely game to fight this guy at some stage in my career. I see it happening after tonight. Congrats on a solid win Michael and another barnstormer."
