UFC legend Daniel Cormier claims Colby Covington is still dealing with ‘serious injuries’ from Jorge Masvidal attack after ‘Chaos’ wins big at £2m poker tournament

Daniel Cormier has revealed that Colby Covington is still recovering from the ‘serious injuries' he suffered after Jorge Masvidal allegedly attacked him earlier this year.
The welterweight duo fought back in March with Covington picking up a lopsided decision win over his former friend and teammate at UFC 272.
Two weeks later Masvidal was arrested for attacking Covington at a steakhouse in Miami and it was reported that ‘Gamebred’ snuck up on his rival to sucker punch him twice in the face.
Covington suffered a broken tooth and damage to his $90,000 Rolex watch. As a result, Covington pressed charges against his bitter rival who was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, bodily harm, and criminal mischief.
After months of uncharacteristic silence, Covington recently found himself back in the news after he made the final table of the Seminole Hard Rock Casino’s $400 Deep Stack No-Limit Hold’em event.
The UFC star ultimately finished seventh in the tournament that, according to the casino had more than 7,700 entries and a prize pool of more than $2.5million (£2m).
For his efforts, Covington walked away with $48,298 (£40,000) which is sure to come in handy due to the fact he's not likely to fight again this year as he's still recovering from the injuries he suffered a few months ago.
“Colby Covington is dealing with some serious injuries from being brutally attacked on the street by Jorge Masvidal,” Cormier said on the of DC & RC.
The former dual-weight champion thinks Covington is doing the right thing by keeping a low profile while getting paid in the process.
He added: “Colby Covington needs to stay away from the public eye and doing exactly what he’s doing, and while making money. Hats off to Covington.
"To be attacked in that way, viciously, it would be hard to come back and do other things. Colby Covington is doing what he needs to do, relaxing, playing cards, and making money.”
We should soon know more about the futures of Covington and Masvidal whose pre-trial hearing and trial are scheduled for later this month.
