‘Opinions are like a***holes’ – Paddy Pimblett unfazed as Jared Gordon win at UFC 282 is disputed by Nate Diaz and called ‘worst decision ever’ by Henry Cejudo

Paddy Pimblett is confident he did enough to beat Jared Gordon despite the fact many people thought he lost at UFC 282.
The Baddy was made to work for his fourth UFC win and needed some help from the judges to get by Gordon at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night.
It was a nip-and-tuck throughout, but Pimblett was ultimately declared the winner by the three ringside judges who all scored the fight 29-28 in his favour.
However, not everyone agreed with the decision and several prominent fighters took to Twitter to share their opinion on the scouser’s latest win.
UFC legend Nate Diaz tweeted: “Bruh? You lost that fight”
Former dual-weight champion Henry Cejudo declared Pimblett’s win over Gordon had displaced Sean O’Malley’s recent victroy against Petr Yan as the ‘worst in UFC history’.
“Man, that’s the worst decision, that’s like smelling a donkey’s a**,” Cejudo said in a video posted to his Twitter account.
“I mean, I thought Sean O’Malley had the worst decision of the year. Jesus, move out the way Sean O’Malley, that was even worse than what you had, it absolutely makes me sick!”
Despite the uproar surrounding his latest win, Pimblett was unfazed and told assembled media post-fight: “Opinions are like a***holes, everyone has got one.”
“I know I won that fight, simple as. I deal in facts and I won a unanimous decision, it’s not even like it was a split decision.
"Look at his face and look at mine, fights get scored on damage now. I landed a lot more damage, end of.”
Pimblett admitted he ‘coasted’ in the third round because he believed he'd won the first two and was struggling with an ankle injury he picked up during the fight.
After initially believing he lost the final frame, the 27-year-old decided he did enough to win all three rounds at UFC 282 and is therefore struggling to understand how his win is controversial.
Pimblett added: “I knew I’d won the first two [rounds], people don’t have to tell me. When I’ve looked at the stats after the fight, I think I’ve won all three.
"In the cage, I thought that he’d won the third. When they said 29-28, I was like, ‘Yeah, good decision. I won the first two, he won the third.'
“Then after looking back at the stats, [he landed] four significant strikes in the third. Control time doesn’t mean jack s*** anymore, do you know what I mean?”
Despite the controversy, Pimblett will exit 2022 with his perfect UFC record intact and will continue his rise through the lightweight ranks in the new year, potentially at UFC 286 in London on March 18.
