Darren Till believes Conor McGregor’s UFC career is ‘probably’ over despite talk of an impending comeback and third title win.

‘Notorious’ is the biggest star in MMA history and a former two-weight world champion who holds high-profile wins over Dustin Poirier, Jose Aldo, Nate Diaz and Eddie Alvarez.

The 34-year-old seemingly outgrew his chosen sport in 2017 when he crossed over into boxing for a lucrative fight with ring legend Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor has struggled for form ever since, losing three of his last four fights, but he remains the most popular fighter on the UFC roster ahead of his eagerly anticipated 2023 comeback bout.

The Irishman has been out of action since fracturing his tibia and fibula at UFC 264 in July 2021 but is now fully fit ahead of a return fight at welterweight.

After winning UFC gold at lightweight and featherweight, ‘Mystic Mac’ has announced his intention to become the first fighter in company history to win belts in three different divisions.

McGregor said in March 2022: “No one’s ever obtained three knockouts in three weight divisions moving up like I have already, but no one’s ever obtained three UFC world titles cross three divisions like I will do also.”

At the time Kamaru Usman reigned over the welterweight division but he has since been dethroned by Leon Edwards who will give him a rematch at UFC 286 on March 18 in London.

While McGregor is confident he will ultimately fight the winner, ‘The Gorilla’ thinks the future Hall of Famer’s career is coming to an end.

Till told : “I think Conor has been there and done it, made his money and now he’s happy.

“I’m sure he probably wants to come back but deep down he knows life’s different now. I think it’s probably the end for Conor but he’s still the biggest name in the sport.”

Despite being several years younger than McGregor, Till was recently forced to issue a statement confirming he will not retire after his latest UFC defeat.

The Liverpudlian suffered his fifth loss in six fights when he was submitted by Dricus du Plessis at UFC 282 in December.

Till has been plagued by injuries during his poor run of form and it was feared he’d suffered a recurrence of a knee injury that has troubled him for years.

The 30-year-old has since confirmed he is not injured and is just working on the mental side of his game before booking another fight which is unlikely to take place on the UFC’s upcoming UK show.
