Nate Diaz slams ‘dumbf***’ UFC fighter Anthony Smith for heaping praise on Dana White’s controversial slap fighting promotion

MMA legend Nate Diaz is not a fan of Power Slap.
UFC president Dana White is currently facing widespread criticism for launching his own slap fighting league after being caught on camera slapping his wife on New Year’s Eve.
Several scary knockout clips from the new promotion's first three shows have gone viral on social media, prompting a bunch of high-profile people to condemn White.
However, UFC light-heavyweight contender and analyst, Anthony Smith, is a massive fan of the new league and can’t wait for its upcoming pay-per-view show.
He told : “I’ve been saying it for f***ing months. I cannot get enough of the Power Slap League.
“My body is ready for a pay-per-view. I will pay for it. I don’t care how much it costs. I’ll pre-pay. I’ll pre-pay the next ten. I love it! I don’t know why. I can’t give you a reason.
‘Lionheart’ thinks his love for slap fighting may be down to the fact he got to speak with some of the Power Slap contestants and watch them film the show.
Smith added: "Maybe because I was there during the pilot of it and I’ve seen it in person. I got to meet these guys and I got to talk to them. Imagine what you think some of these guys would be like that are involved in the Power Slap League.
“Just think about what kind of person would do it. That’s exactly how they are. I am a fan of chaos. These guys are goddamn maniacs, there’s something wrong with them.
“There’s something not right, they've got a couple of screws loose, and they’re my type of people. I love them. I loved every second of it. I love talking to them. I support them.
“I know a lot of people hate it. I know a lot of people think it’s gross. I love combat sports. I don’t even know if I’d call it a sport, it might not be, but I love it!”
An article about Smith’s love of Power Slap was posted to Twitter by BJPENN.com and the one-time 205lb title challenger faced a ton of backlash for his comments.
Among the commentators was Diaz whose five-word reply read: “Anthony Smith is a dumbf***.”
The former UFC fighter is known for hitting his opponents with his famous ‘Stockton Slap’ and he even landed one on White a few years ago.
While he does like to dish out slaps, Diaz seems to be against the fact his old boss has made a sport out of it and some of his former colleagues are getting behind it.
Conor McGregor’s long-time rival joins Tom Aspinall, Sean O’Malley, Brendan Schaub and Ryan Garcia in speaking out against Power Slap which is set to air its fourth episode on Wednesday despite continued criticism.
