Dana White confirms Conor McGregor still hasn’t re-entered UFC drug testing pool, but won’t rule out 2023 fight

UFC legend Conor McGregor could still fight in 2023 after all.
‘Notorious’ hasn’t fought since breaking his leg during a trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, but he is booked to return against Michael Chandler.
However, that fight has been delayed by McGregor’s dispute with the United States Anti-Doping Agency [USADA] which is tasked with keeping the UFC a clean organization.
The 34-year-old is required to undergo six months of random drug testing before competing again and he recently missed an important deadline that seemingly ruled him out until 2024.
Ahead of UFC 290, Dana White was fielding questions about McGregor’s fighting future and refused to rule out his biggest star returning this year despite the fact he’s still not in the USADA testing pool.
“He’s not [back in the USADA testing pool],” he told .
“100 per cent [there’s a chance Conor McGregor fights this year].”
The UFC president was keen to focus on events that are set in stone rather than speculate about McGregor’s fighting future ahead of his promotional return to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas this Saturday.
"We’ll see how that plays out,” White added.
“I don’t talk about s*** until s*** happens, you know what I mean?
“To sit here and think hypothetically how a million different things could happen, no idea.
"I’m focusing on what’s happening this Saturday [UFC 290], and then next Saturday. UFC 300 isn’t even on my mind right now.
“The Conor thing, who the hell knows how that’s gonna play out?
“Who cares what USADA says? We’ll see what happens when it happens.”
The UFC could make an exception for McGregor, and it remains a possibility that he will make his Octagon comeback before this calendar year is over.
