Nate Diaz tells Conor McGregor to skip Michael Chandler fight as he names alternative UFC comeback opponent

Nate Diaz has some advice for his old rival Conor McGregor.
The UFC legend is just days away from making his boxing debut against Jake Paul but is still fielding questions about the man he fought twice inside the Octagon.
‘Notorious’ has been sidelined since breaking his leg at UFC 264 in July 2021 and is currently gearing up for his eagerly anticipated comeback fight.
Michael Chandler is the man he’s supposed to face, the two men have even filmed a season of The Ultimate Fighter together to build hype, but Diaz is not interested in the matchup.
“Chandler is a nice guy but he's not gonna win,” he told when asked for his thoughts on McGregor’s return bout.
“I don't think they're gonna fight though. They are not gonna fight.”
McGregor also seems to be losing interest in a clash with Chandler as he called out Justin Gaethje following his knockout win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 this past weekend.
The first fighter to beat him in Dana White’s MMA league believes that is a much better clash and insists it should happen as Gaethje is lacking opponent options after his BMF title win.
"I think Conor and Gaethje should fight,” Diaz added.
“I think that will probably be next, but Gaethje might just act like he's too cool or something, but it shows how much a nerd he is.
“He ain’t got nobody to fight. Who is he going to fight?
“There’s nobody to fight, that’s why I had to step out because there’s nobody to fight.”
Diaz has repeatedly stated his desire to return to the UFC and complete his trilogy with McGregor who levelled the series by outpointing him at UFC 202.
First things first, he’s got to get by Paul who is a heavy favourite heading into their fight after previously beating MMA stars Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, and Anderson Silva.
Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz is live and exclusive on talkSPORT on Sunday 6 August from 4am
