Michael Bisping would have fought GSP despite injuries

Michael Bisping vs GSP

He may have been medically suspended, but Michael Bisping says a ‘massive payday’ to fight Georges St-Pierre would have been enough for him to ignore injuries and step into the octagon.

‘The Count’, who defended his middleweight crown against Dan ‘Hendo’ Henderson at UFC 204 in his hometown of Manchester in October, took a lot of damage to his face during the bout and was subsequently medically suspended for six months unless cleared by a doctor.

However, Bisping seems to be more than happy to ask a doctor for clearance if it means fighting GSP, a man who has not stepped foot in a UFC octagon for three years.

GSP has since thanked Bisping for the challenge, but has had to decline due to rumours that Reebok, the brand which provides the UFC with their official fight gear, are against the idea of seeing Under Armour gain exposure on live television through their sponsorship of GSP.

Speaking on ‘UFC Tonight’ Bisping said: "As you all know, I fought Dan Henderson very recently.

“I've got a busted orbital. Now I know what everyone at home is going to say: ‘Didn't you call out GSP a couple weeks ago?’ Yes, I did, but really, think about this: that was a massive payday, roughly $3-4 million I would have earned from that fight.”
