UFC Fight Night results from Mexico City: Tony Ferguson beats Rafael Dos Anjos

UFC Fight Night results from Mexico City

In a fight that could easily have been a title fight a few months ago, before Rafael Dos Anjos (RDA) lost to Eddie Alvarez, it was Tony Ferguson who came out on top after a gruelling five-round fight in Mexico City.

RDA started better, putting in a solid striking performance in the first round but Ferguson battled back and evened up the scores in the second.

In the third it was pretty even, with Ferguson landing more strikes but RDA landing the more powerful ones.

By the fourth round you could see RDA tiring a little, with Ferguson’s personality starting to show as he began showboating for the Mexican crowd. Ferguson took the fourth comfortably.

In the fifth and final round it was all to fight for, but it was Ferguson again who came out on top, landing more strikes and showing the crowd how much fun he was having in the process.

As the fight went to the judges’ scorecards it was obvious Ferguson had won the bout and he will now look to take on the winner of the hotly anticipated bout between the Notorious Conor McGregor and the UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, which takes place next weekend at UFC 205 in New York City.
