Famous UFC KO victim Impa Kasangany wins $1million PFL world title fight and calls out Francis Ngannou

Impa Kasangany completed the ultimate MMA redemption story by claiming the PFL light-heavyweight title on Friday night.

The 29-year-old cruised to a comfortable unanimous decision win over Josh Silveira in Washington.

Most fans will know Kasangany as the victim of Joaquin Buckley's jumping spinning back kick in October 2020.

It was a Knockout of the Year winner that left UFC CEO Dana White, former US president Donald Trump, rapper Kanye West stunned.

But for Kasangany, the defeat saw him cut by the UFC and forced to revive his career.

After five consecutive wins under the PFL banner, the American fighter took home a $1million (£790,000) cheque on Friday night.

And Kasangany does not plan on stopping there: he wants Vadim Nemkov and Francis Ngannou next.

Nemkov is the Bellator light-heavyweight champion, while Ngannou is a former UFC heavyweight king who recently floored Tyson Fury in a boxing match.

"You can be [sleeping] in the car one day, you can be world champion the next," Kasangany said after the fight. "That's in anything you do.

"A lot of people here, you don't know what they're going through. But once you know you're unconditionally loved, you might feel like giving up right now, but don't.

"Just one more day, promise yourself that, and you'll be a champion in your own life."

Kasangany added: "I want Nemkov. He's one of the best in the world. Why would you be in this if you're not here to be the best? I came here to dominate.

"I want Nemkov and Francis Ngannou. I'm here to be the best. I'm not playing around. I'm here to be the best to ever do it. Past, present and future.

"I thank God the UFC cut me. I'm here to be in PFL and dominate. Took me 12 to 15 years to get a great contract and look after my family, now I want everybody next.

"I'll fight tomorrow, I'll fight on Sunday. I don't care. Let's get out there."
